My LTZ has the pull strap in the trunk as well. And until I read about it on here I had no idea the sun visors extended.

If I had a complaint it would be I didn't get the car sooner with less miles on it.

I put a 5 because its the truth.

Here are the pros...It was my first car so for the money I couldn't beat it. It looks cool and has a nice interior. Comfortable for 2 people and a HUGE trunk. Good mpg

Cons...performance isn't that good (ya I know I have the 3.4L, but aside from the new 5.3L V8, Montes aren't really "fast"), FWD, handling isn't the best which also goes along with being FWD

If I had bout $40,000 lying around, I would sell my monte tomarrow and get a Dodge Charger SRT-8 for a few reasons...425HP!!, RWD, and 4 doors.

i know what you mean if i ever have a soda or drink in there and put it into park i cant get it out and have to shift the car to get it

One thing that i think is the best about my car is the fact that there are so many mods for the 3800 engine and that the engine will never die on you

Notes: While the car looks good to the average person, any car guy would be able to see what is wrong with the car. The car was repainted in 1987 when my grandfather had it and a new vinyl top was installed at that time with some rust repair under the top. The current paint job is 6 1/2 years old and looked great at first. As time went by the paint job has shown the "ugly" cheapness the body shop did with it. Rust bubbles have reared their ugly head around several areas of the car, mostly centered around the vinyl top/rear window area. Body panels are slightly out of alignment, the door hinges (which were "repaired" 2 years ago) are already sagging again. The door strikers have seen better days as well as the jambs. The windshield was replaced last year and the rear window was resealed because of a leak at that time as well. It has been discovered at the time of the rear window being resealed that the vinyl top is waterlogged. I was warned if that wasn't taken care of within a year after the window was sealed that it would start to leak again, which it is starting to do again. There are a couple pin hole leaks where water drains into the trunk from the vinyl top trim or quarter windows. The hood has a light crease on the passenger side from when the hinge decide to bind up. Weather stripping has been removed. I have replacement stripping, however I have been

i dont know about this...my 3.8 is probably as fast as a lot of the 5.3l engines and i haven't had any problem keeping up or beating anything i've raced so far...beat every mustang i've ever raced...
i'm very happy that my 3.8l supercharged can smoke most v8's out there

On small gripe is that the 01 & 04 had a "Strap" type handle attached to the inside of the trunk lid so a shorter person could use it to pull the trunk down. (My Wife for example) This is missing fron the 07. Somewhat of an insignificant item, but she sure let me know about it not being there. What would it cost GM to keep the damn thing on the car, and save us guys the hassel from the wife?
really?? my 06 SS has the strap... maybe they just forgot to put one on yours... did you go and look on a lot at any others to see if they had the strap??

Seat-back storage areas... I love storage. And plastic lined too. Now the idiot friends/kids that leave
half-eaten candy bars or junk in there won't have to be beaten..... (as hard)
you let people eat/drink in your car??!!! I don't, and my kids probably hate me for it LOL... no food or drink is allowed past the door handle - you either finish it before you get in the car, or you wait until we get back home.. LOL

No food is allowed in my car either, except....

IN 'N' OUT BURGER

If you haven't had one, you haven't had a real burger.

Can I have your yellow Monte? [sm=smiley20.gif]
(my girlfriend loves it)

I think the 3.9 in my LTZ does a decent job. And I have to dis-agree with the 5.3 in the SS not being a good running engine. The one I test drove seemed hot.

If I had the choice of getting a new car tomorrow.................. I'd go right out and buy an '07 SS Monte. Blue if I could find one.

Well, I normally tell people no dinner-type food, but I usually don't have a problem withsnack-type stuff. Drinks, I don't have a problem with either because I almost always have a 20oz dewin the cup holders.

That's for adults anyways. Kids... RARELY step foot in my car, because I've never seen a family car back seat in the stock color... they're usually plaid with different sorts of gunk. The one time I did let a kid in my 03 I ended up with half a candy bar melted in the seat crease, which took forever to clean off. The 06 already has some stains from the previous owner, but they'll be easy to remove. Not to mention I usuallyupset parents with my driving, I can't help it if they don't realize that wreckless driving is just that.... Wreck-less!

I think my 06 has the strap as well, but I'm not positive of that. If you look You'll notice lots ofmissing thingson the 06/07 versus the earlier 6th gens. For one the cupholder didn't get the reducer insert (at least mine didn't :-s, The hood is supported by only one strut, and I think the side mirrorglass is actually plastic now. That's what they felt like anyways.

RJ: You're right, the 3.9 is very nice! I'm very excited to see what various mods will gain. I looked, and definitely don't see the U-bend thing that was in earlier models.

2000_BLACK_SS: The cupholders in the 06 and newers aren't much better. They put both in front of the glove compartment, out of the way of the gear selector, but they overlap partially meaning if there's anything oversized in either, it blocks the other one, and you don't get the reducer so if you have something small like a small bottle of water they end up falling out on the floor with minor braking. But they are different sizes, so that helps somewhat.
