"check engine light" > bad throttle position sensor
I had my 1997 LS 3.1 137,000 mile monte tested at Autozone for check engine light and it indicated a bad throttle position sensor. The light has been on for2 weeks but the car runs great and mpg has been the same (24mpg) The part is only $33.00 and i will replace it i guess. What exactly does this part do? Is it ajustable? Why has'nt my car run bad if this is faulty? I was also told to ,after the new TPS was installed to remove the ECM fuse, with the ignition off, then put the fuse back in to make the CELight go off. Sound right?I checked all fuse locations (1 passenger side panel) (2 left side of engine compartment) (3 right side engine compartment ) and no ECM fuse. I did see a PCM fuse at the left engine compartment though. Is this it?....Regards.....Tom H

Throttle position sensor (TPS).
The sensor is on the throttle body. When you press or release the throttle pedal the tps sends a signel back to the ECM, which in turns the ECM tells the injectors how much fuel is needed. (I know it can get into more detailed). But close enough.
The TPS on this car in not adjustable.
Once the computer sees that the problem has been fixed it will then go in to an inactive code. Once this happens the light should go off. If not you can pull the fuseor disconnect the negtive battery cable for about 15 seconds or so.
