OMG!

Admittedly, I have not changed rear plugs on a Monte with a 3800 (but been there with a Bonneville), never saw the need to rock the engine forward, but that video is NUTS! I'd take Chibi's method over the "tractor pull" style method.....

chiblacksheep's way is the best way. Thats how I was told at the Chevy dealer. Except I have my wife sit in the driver seat and I rock it back and forth from the door jam on the passanger side. Goes quik. 2 pushes. Heck of a lot safer too. No snapping of chains, straps or what have you. No body damage chances either

Is the procedure the same for 3.4 equipped LS's? Or is there even a need to rock the engine forward to change plugs on a 60 degree V6?

Haha normally I ratchet strap it forward to the support beam of my shed, but this was a spur of the moment thing that worked quite well. Not sure on the 3.4. As of now I took all of the useless brackets off, and with my headers I can park the car and change the plugs hot easily.

No need, TONS of room with the 3400.

I did the plugs on my wife's '05 Impala with zero problems (same engine compartment as the Monte). Granted, I am familiar with the design of the 3400 as I worked on so many of it's old cousin, the 3100 in the N-Body platforms (the Grand Ams). In a '94 Grand Am, I have to remove the coil pack/ICM assembly to get enough room to cram my arm into position. On the 3400 W-body, there is a TON of distance between the firewall and the rear head, I did it with my winter coat on, all by touch without relocating the coils.

Thanks a million, Maniac!
This is my first 3400 in a car (my dad's LS which I have to do the maintenance on and will inherit someday), the other ones I was around were in Venture minvans. The rear plugs are an adVENTURE in those vehicles.
