Great instructions! Do you happen to know if I have to go through the entire process of removing the door panel to get at the speaker or is there an easier way of getting at it? The stock speakers are terrible and I've been looking to replace them. I have horrible luck with door panels and always manage to break something.

The whole panel needs to come off to remove the speaker unfortunately.

I signed up specifically to say THANK YOU for these instructions!

I bought a 1998 Z34 a couple of weeks ago, and I've spent a lot of time lurking around this forum and reading everything I can. I remember seeing this post and thinking, "Wow, very detailed, but there's nothing wrong that would require me to take the door apart!" Um. Fast-forward to Saturday night, when the driver's side window got stuck partway down just as I was leaving my parents' house. My father and I struggled, and between the two of us finally managed to get the window up enough that the rain couldn't get in. After we wrestled the window most of the way up, he was lamenting that we didn't have a factory service manual, or at least a Chilton or Haynes manual. I mentioned this thread, came back over the next day, and armed with a printout we spent part of Sunday taking the door apart. Turns out that the window had come off its track. He managed to get the window back on its track, and the window seems fine now.

Again -- THANK YOU!
