So, the 7th gens that have the factory amp under the rear shelf have the 6 disc-in-dash cd changer?

I'm positive that my 06LT does not have an amp in the back.. I really wish it did.. The only amperage is coming from the head unit, which really sucks!

I would really like to know if the factory head unit without an amplifier sounds any better with new speakers? I am forced to change my front speakers because the driver side is going in and out (on and off). I was thinking about doing speakers all the way around. Is it worth it? No factory amp, just the factory head unit.

Default Thanks for the write up

I'm going to attempt this this weekend. I know how to change the 6x9's in a grand prix but this is going to be a new one for me. Wish me luck.

1) This site has all the wiring for the stock systems. Could be quite handy if anyone else is interested.

2) I would go with the factory ones if you want to keep your stock ride. Others may say go with a more performance oriented brand even if the ride is harsher. It's your choice.

its not really that hard, nothing is glued or stuck in place, so after removing bolts and some gentle tugging, you can get the package tray out ( which i thought was the hardest part ) and the 6X9's are mounted in a plastic little tub that simply unclips and pops up and out,

as far as using the stock 4 wire to power something new ... youre on your own, i tore out everything stock and ran new wires from a new HU ...
