Default 6x9's in rear deck

OK guys.
With chrismas comming up I'm looking a set of 6x9 kicker for the rear deck. I know that something like 4x10's came out, but a kiddown the street has a set of 6x9's with a small amp, and WOW they are loud and clear. I'm thinking of just bending the tabs out that held the stock magnet on the 4x10. Will this work or will the speaker be to heavy for the mount?
Thanks.
Cory.

If you got 4x10's, 1st off, sorry. But there is an adapter bracket made for the conversion. Crutchfield probably has them. What I've been told tho is they rattle. I'd try them with some thin weatherstripping, and maybe try some boots around the 6x9's. ANYTHING is better than 4x10's. We got them in our Olds.

RocknSS04,
Thanks I want to try and fab up some brackets. I look the 4x10's out a while ago and put some 4x6's that my friend had for 10 bucks. Well time to spend the money and upgrade. I'm tired of only hearing bass.

Thanks.

It depends on how much room you got in the tray for the speakers, but yes, that's what I'm talking about. I'd like to try a set in our '82 Olds Regency, cuz the new 4x10's suck. I have some nice Pioneer 6x9 3-ways in the Intimidator SS, and I'd like to try something similar in the Olds. I HIGHLY recommend going to good 3-ways or 4-ways. I definately recommend the weatherstripping for stopping rattles.
Good 3 or 4-ways in the doors or kick panels are a must have, also.
Merry Christmas Cory to you and your family.

Default new front speakers

RocknSS04,
First off, Merry Christmas to you too. Hope santa treated you well.

As far as Speakers, I just got a new set of Rockford 3.5 inchers for the front. I went out to install them this morning and they are bigger than stock. As I understand, the speaker mounts to the grill cover and then the whole cover/speaker assembly goes into the dash. How did you fab the new speaker into the dash with or without the cover? I don't feel like messing up a new pair, so I figured I'd ask before I went on...

Anyone help with front 3 1\2's in the dash? I bought 2 ways, and they are much taller than stock. Do I have to rip the whole dash apart to get the speaker in?
