most mods for montes can be done by yourself as theyre fairly easy.. but if your looking for exhaust just search around for cheaper prices but stand behind their work.

what kind of mods are you thinking about?

CAI is pretty easy to do. I actually have the Wizaired, its sold by ZZP but is different than the actual ZZP CAI, theyre very similar though. To save money if I were you I would just get a FWI or a fenderwell intake. It's cheaper and you get the same benefits.

Exhaust will probably have to be done at an exhaust shop. As far as top swap, I'm not familiar with Boston so I'm not exactly sure.

You will save a LOT of money if you do the work yourself. You can make a homemade CAI and save yourself $150-200, even more if you do it yourself. As far as your exhaust, call around to your local exhaust shops and ask them how much it would cost for them to do what you want them to do. For example, say you want a 2.5" exhaust with a high flow aftermarket cat split to duals with a couple of Flowmaster 40's at the end, all of which made of stainless steel (make sure it's stainless steel, don't get anything else).

As far as the top swap, do that yourself too because many shops won't be willing to do that since it is considered risky. It really isn't but shops don't like to be held responsible and tend to avoid modifying cars. The top swap isn't too hard. It's basically a head swap with a couple of extra things to do. Search on this website and clubgp's to see what people have done with their top swaps.

Indeed. Shops can and will try to gouge you with prices if you are modded and need work done later, just because they can. Finding a shop to install aftermarket parts in the first place can be a toss up since are taking a risk installing non-stock parts in the first place.
