Good choice, I would like to get the one for my 3.9 but I just don't have the $$ right now......

You will love it! Your car will have so much more usable power. The improvements to the transmission shifts/ shift points will make you wonder why GM didn't tune it that way straight from the factory.

Awesome! Not to take anything away from your topic but what does everyone run in their cars after tuning as far as fuel?

I see they can tune it to help run better on 87 or 91, but I'm curious as to which one everyone does on here?

I want to get the most performance I can, but with fuel costs so high is it really worth it to tune it for 91?

I had Will tune mine for 87. I talked to him about it, and he said the 91 tuning might ad 2-3 HP max, and he thought the 87 was the better option for me. Considering I was daily driving the Monte 110 miles per day when I got it, I wanted the 87 tune too. 2-3 HP wasn't worth the extra 6bucks per fill up to me.

I have run 91 MANY times since I got the tune, and I honestly can't say I feel a difference.

If you're not tuned for it you're not going to feel a difference - in fact, running premium if your sparking is tuned for 87 will pass raw fuel through your system, which will cause the cat to plug up and fail and it'll gum up your injectors and EGR valve in time, too.

On all newer cars, including the Monte, i've never heard of there being an issue with running a higher grade of gasoline. I ran my Monte on 91 Octane for the better part of it's 163K life, most of that on the stock 87 Octane tune. While I did not notice nor expect a performance gain, it certainly wasn't bad for the car. (I wasn't paying for the gas so figured why not run the best).

In fact I think the owners manual reads minimum 87 octane...I interpret that as minimum 87 octane, higher grades fine.

im gonna ask will what he thinks is best for me and then go by his suggestion. i dont pay for my gas either so i figure why not pump 93.
