I dont see the series 2 factor being an issue. With the high mileage and hassle of a top swap, I say go with a straight up l67 swap.

As much as I'm a big fan of the top swap- I also think ~160k miles is awfully high to start adding performance parts- a L67/L32 swap might be a better idea at this point- for maybe double or triple what a top swap would cost, you would also get a ton more life out of your engine.

Yes, the closer you get to 200k- that seems to be a major failure area. Sure there are some people who have made it to 250k and such, but then everything is just plain worn out on the engine. I'm not trying to say all the bearings are going to seize up right at 200k- I'm saying the whole engine will start nickel and dime'ing you to death.

Sure its definitely possible to do a top swap and rock it til it dies- but you're probably going to spend almost half of what an engine swap would cost- and you're still stuck with the high mileage. I'd rather spend double up front and get an extra 60k+ miles out of the engine.

my opinion it all that it if the engine has 280 on it tearf it down and get every thing you want to go in it. drive it till it cant be driven but slowly get what you want and need for the rebuild top and bottom it will be a great running car after wards becasu it will be some thing that was going to be pland by your self
