Default Vortec heads?

Hey brothers we decided to go with a 350 sbc to build for our 87 SS but have a question for everyone. We are thinking about going with the Vortec heads, how much more HP can we expect going this route then with regular heads? Also looking for a intake manifold for the vortec heads if anyone has any recommendations. What exactly should be done to the heads to get the best performance out of them and what size cam would u all recommend as we are trying to get to 400HP? Thanks for any and all responses.

What year is the 350 motor? Vortec heads may not have the proper flow.. For an older style 350, What are the vortec heads off of? (What Year? What size valves are in the heads?) The best you can do for any set of heads is to have them Magnafluxed first (For Cracks) Then of course..
Having them Ported and Polished.... Its a must for any variation of cam according to lift and the duration of the cam! Which also you have to consider valve sizes... Which vary with each type of cam.... Is the 350 a 4 bolt main? Vs a 2 bolt Main... (4 bolt mains tend to handle the increase in HP and RPMS)
How many miles are on the Motor? Theres lots of people who make the Mistake of trying to build the top end of the motor without doing anything to lower portion.... Eventually end up blowing up the Motor because they failed to properly do the lower end...and then scratch there heads wondering what happened and why.... Just something else to consider during your build...

The vortec heads are 96 the block an 86 which is being rebuilt completely and also being balanced. Also it is a 4 bolt main.
