7th Gen ('06-'07): V6 Build?

V6 Build?
Might be purchasing a nice 07 Monte Carlo LS (Blue) and was wondering what would be some peoples opinions on how to make it look (and perform) a bit sportier/more like the SS. (I am not able to get an SS, fathers choice otherwise I would )
I really do like them, they are nice for sure. Just would like to make it turn some heads.
Thanks
Kyle

I would ad ice buying a 6th gen (00-05) ss. It has a 3800 v6 and some also have a supercharged 3800 v6. Either of these 3800 engines are easy to mod unlike the v6 engine in the 7th gen that your looking at.

I agree with turbo monte. There's hardly anything that you can do with the 3500 or 3900's in the 7th gens...unless you're interested in making all new custom parts. But even if you could, a 3800 v6 is easy to modify.

Sadly, not many (if any) after market communities took to the v6 engines in the '06/07 Monte (having a v8 SS for those years really reduced interest in v6 modding).
There may be some stuff out there, just takes some digging. I'm sure you can do up an exhaust, CAI and a tune to get some increased performance. If your car has a resonator, I'd remove that in a heart beat. As for other mods, you may have to fabricate them yourself, perhaps look into if a turbo might be reasonable....

What everyone is saying about the 3800 engines being easier to mod, it's true. BUT, I've found a ton of mods you can do to these engines. I've done lots of research and have found stuff that I happened to come across that I plan on doing to mine at some point... Also the 2006 3500's are more efficient. If you want easy modding get the 3800. If you want to take a different path get the 3500. Only thing I wish our engine has is the supercharger

The 3900 is a weak engine aftermarket wise, and the 3500 non VVT can be modified, however a lot of stuff will be custom aka cost you a lot of money. Milzy Motorsports is known for his 3500 modding (he's put em as replacements for 3100s and 3400s). They say that a 3500 can take a turbo pretty well but once again... custom work.
You're better off finding a 2005 SS or at the very least a non Supercharged 3800 as you would have somewhat of a base to work on, but having the Supercharger already helps a lot.

I had an 06 3500. Like everyone has mentioned, not a ton of aftermarket support. However, you can get some more spice out of the 3500 than plain stock. I had a Magnaflow resonator and mufflers, Cold Air Intake and a Tune done by Overkill. Made all the difference in the world and really woke the car up. Plenty of extra power for everyday driving and some extra fun.
I found the 3.5L to be very reliable and always up for the challenge.
If you want a good daily driver that you can have some fun with too, the 3.5L is great and still gets mid twenties gas mileage.
