Using Oil!!!!
Is anyone else having problems with their engine using lots of oil? [sm=jawdrop.gif](more than a quart every 1,000 miles)
I have a 2004 with the Supercharged 3800 and it has been using oil like mad since about 3k. Took it to the stealership and did the whole they gotta check my oil every 1k to prove it was using oil. They decided it was the Valve seals and subsequently pulled the heads and had them rebuilt locally. When I got the car back it seemed better for the first 1or2k but is back to its usual tricks AGAIN! No discernable white smoke, no oil in the coolant or visa versa, or any exterior leaks. Any help would be GREATLY apprecitated! This thing is driving me to [sm=alcoholic.gif] Its my wife's baby and I'd love to put this one to bed.

im not sure about the 3.8, but the 3.4 DOHC has an oil pump drive shaft cover plate. it is a throw back for the block when they almost chose to make it have a distributor. but the story is that it has a little rubber o-ring and it leaks. i am dealing with this too. but it only looses about a quart every 3k so i have been just doing reg oil changes and putting it off.
the pump cover should be on the drive side of the engine below the heads and under the TB it will probably be impossible to get to without a good tear down of the intake maifolds, but atleast if you look in the area of the block you might see the oil, if that is the location of the leak

The 3.8 Buick block is totally different from the 3.4 Chevy Block unfortunately. No external leaks that I can find evidence of on the block and its never left a drop of oil on the garage floor. Leads me to believe it is definitly being burnt instead of leaked. The car now has about 23k on it. They did compression testing (never heard of wet or dry?) and the GM rep told them to rebuild the heads. What is the difference between a wet or dry test? I'm thinking somethings wrong with the rings. Can't find any oil in the coolant, so I'm fairly sure it's not a head gasket. Thanks for help so far.
