RE: Turbo question
well never really messed with turbos before, but the guy that owned it before me said it wasnt working, something about ******* out the car with ac on and it stopped working. Thats all i really know, just what he told me. Is there anything to check to see if its not working. A faq/guide or something?

RE: Turbo question
one way to check your turbo is to remove the intake side piping. What you see inside of the turbo is the intake turbine. if you grab that and try to pull it out it should have no free play. Try to spin the turbine itself, it should spin freely. Also, with the air dicting removed, Id rev the engine a few times at various rpm to hear the turbo spooling. If it just doesnt sound right, chances are it isnt. Id also flush it by removing the return line from it pouring oil all through it, just in case. Some of the old Dodge Omni GLH-S guys recommend flushing it with ATF as it has higher detergent properties.
Once you know your turbo is good, I would check the blow-off valve to ensure it works properly. This can easily be found out by revving the engine, then quickly releasing. your boost guage should immidiatly drop to zero or a negative value. It can also be heard in the engine bay, but the guage method is more effectiveI find. Running a turbo with a faulty blow off valve may cause your engine to go lean when you step off the trottle, as the air behind the turbo is pressurised. Lean conditions are very bad. Detonation is not your freind.
If the car is intercooled, i would also remove the lower intercooler hose and check inside the intercooler for corrosion. Moist air can sometimes cause pinhole leaks, from internal rust. Just like your car's radiatior. It aint good!

Thats a pretty good site to get you a bit of backgrounder...
If it isnt intercooled, you can remove the intake tubing and look at the turbine itself, you should see it spinning when you give a nice long blip of the throttle... If Im right, the GNX has the blow-off right on the turbo..
