Good explanation. Thanks! Duane, REALLY??? Are you serious....then please tell me you don't run valvoline either...LOL. In both of my cars, I run Castrol GTX and at 3k miles (I do my oil changes religiously at 3k miles) it still has very good color, whereas when I was running Pennzoil, it would be black by the time 3k miles rolled around. That's just been my experience with that oil. I would run Mobil 1, but I don't really have the cash to run straight synthetics.

id use the OE plugs and wires they are a little more money but alot better in the long run. i did my tune up with bosch plugs and wires and my car ran really bad it was misfiring so i just went with the oe plugs and wires and it runs like new. You might want to try replacing the fuel filter while your at it they are fairly cheap and not hard to replace just soak the fitting for the old filter with PB lube because they tend to rust

When my son was going to school for auto tech, they told him that Castrol GTX ws one of the best you could get and that Penzoil was crap. My step-father that is a Ford mechanic uses Castrol.

I'd do some more checking into switching to synthetic now with 90k on it. Mine had 108k on it when I got it, thought about switching and was told not to with that many miles because it could start leaking.

i dont think i would go with a fully syntec motor oil i would probally recomend high mileage. it says that it has sum additives to prevent leaking on older cars.

if it starts leaking, use a heavier weight synthetic oil.....

A tip with changing your plugs is for the back three you can take out a bracket that holds the engine cover in, it is just 2 bolts and gives you alot more room to get the back three. or u could try and roll your engine forward but that to me is more work than what is needs to be done.
