Default transmition problem?

hey guys, i have a 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS v6 3800 series, i recently installed flow master exhaust pipes on the car, they work great but ever since then the car has not been running right at all but my transmition seems like its having problems shifting. From a slow acceleration it shifts fine but when i kick it in the butt a little bit it hesitates then it accelerates to about 4,200 RPM then stalls and it will not shift into 2nd gear until i let go of the gas to shift also there is a loud clicking noise when it stalls at 4,200 RPM. then when i accelerate from a stop slowly it shifts fine but when it gets to about 3,500 RPM it shifts into 2nd gear but only go to about 2,500 RPM and seems like it is hesitating and does not what to accelerate. i haven't been racing the car its just a daily driven car, i have never had problems with the transmition at all. what could be the problem? Also is there such thing as a shift sensor? if anyone has any input i would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Jiggly

This is an old thread but i am having more or less the same problem as Jiggly is/was, i just got my 04 Monte SC SS back from trip to the shop, and this has started to happen. Everything is stock on the car, there is nothing new added yet. The only things i have added was a my sound system and well i see no relevance between the system and the car not shifting correctly.
Everything is great till i give it a bit of gas then it seems to do exactly what jiggly describes.
Does anyone have a clue on what is going on with it?

could be a plugged up catalytic converter how many miles are on the car? That is a very common problem on monte carlos but it is usually covered by warranty
