I have a 03 SS with 73,000 miles and lately when i start driving the transmission will hesitate (slide) into the next gear. Whats weird about the situation is that it only happens everyone once in a while. Sometimes it will happen a few times and then go away during the same trip. Anyone have any thoughts on what it could be? I'm hoping its something small and not the whole transmission going.

did you do a trans service on it as in drop the pan and change the filter on it. it sounds like there is a bad silinoid or just worn fluid. try changing the fluid to see if it cures it if not there might be some thing cloging or starting to wier out in the trans unfortunely soon.

 

i have not done any sort of maintance on the transmission since i've had the car. i'm currently looking into doing the drop and change the filter and add new fluid. lets say the transmission is on its way out, how much am i looking for a new one? i hope its not the case because everythign else on this car runs perfectly. i know the engine will last forever.

 

Had an 01 SS and the trans starting going at 190,000. I don't know how much the trans was to fix/replace because i just traded the car in. It was slamming into gear and then would not shift into 4th. I had no other issues with it. I know that doesn't really help but thought you would like to know
