Ya I did I asked around a lot , contacted TEP and Jasper

Jasper does not make a high performance tranny for the 7th gen
Only "Improved" well that is exactly what the GM SERTA is

TEP was more expensive if you included shipping and returning the core
Warranty was only 12 months and 15,000 miles (No labor warranty)

GM Serta has improved parts over stock
My local trusted dealer is my sole point of contact should a warranty issue pop up. I don't have to deal with two vendors
3 years 100,000 mile warranty (parts AND labor)
They will flush out the cooling system for debris left by the bad trannie
I get cash credits toward future service
Heck with what I am spending I may never have to pay for another oil change

i just couldn't go with the dealer if this was my problem. No way id be trusting GM to correct the issue. If GM couldnt make a transmission to handle what the ls4 makes stock i wouldnt be trusting them to somehow have figured it out now. Ticks me off that they are now using "better parts" to rebuild transmissions like yours but they have still never issued any sort of recall. Id play it safe and go with a transmission that is built for way more HP. I know you arent making 500 hp but i think even a stage 1 from TEP would be good.

Not too sure about zzp rebuilds as one member mentioned. He just sounds mad at the customer service he got. That doesnt mean TEP isnt better

I wrote GM warranty service in Div 5 for several years.I am not knocking their rebuilds, but please be aware that GM hires outside contractors for their rebuilding. They don't do them themselves. And that price is in my opinion on the high side. The dealership has aprox 1800 in that trans after core charges are finalized.I believe the labor is about 6.7 hrs on your car.I would also like to see in writing that the planetaries and pinions are NEW as well as the solenoid pack for that price. Not reman componets.A trans system flush shouldn't charge more than 1.2 hrs for that service.

Total hour charge was 7.7 hours
Trannies is coming from Pontiac Mi GM plant
Not to far from where I live here in Lansing mi
Was assured all parts are new except for the casing which is refurbished

Price was cheaper than TEP
About the same as Jasper
With the 3 year 100000 mike warranty I feel safe

I am up against the tranny demon as well.My truck is high enough mileage that I no longer trust the tranny for a "freshen up" so to speak. Its an 04 Ram with 451k miles, quad cab 4 dr dually(heavy) so I know the planets/pinions ect are worn.If I buy and don't do it myself,I will always wonder whats in there.Prices range fron $3k-6k on a stock type trans. with converter. It still performs well, but with that mileage, its always in the back of my mind. When I was doing the warranty claims for the Lima/Findlay area, our trannys were coming from Mexico.I am glad to hear that they are sourcing within the US again.

buy the GM tranny with the warranty, it's not like you take it to the track or anything. Better yet, get a 3rd wheel and trailer your trailer queen to shows. Kinda like, all show and no go from what I see on here.

No not a trailer queen. Deuce has done the complete route 66 trip from Oatman Az. to Chicago Il. round trip.
Drive her to car shows even out of state ones

Enjoy driving her

The only thing Tadd if it were you is to keep my case because the number on the case belongs to your car.

That part is not so important to me Mel as I don't plan on selling her (maybe pass it on to my daughter when I can no longer drive) The core on that case is worth nearly $450 to $500 bucks I can let it go for that. I know it's is optionally beater to have all matching numbers

Thanks tho!
