That's about right what you are paying. I paid 4,500 too have my tranny replaced and the radiator and two hoses all at the same time.

TEP is the go to choice for anyone with a 4t65e-hd. Prices are reasonable, just have to have a shop install it. A TEP trans that can handle up to 300whp is only like $1700.

TEP quited me much higher price than that for their stage II trannie.
I don't have the figure in front of me

also, TEP only offers a 12 month 15,000 mile part warrenty.

GM offers a 3 year 100,000 mile warenty on thier SERTA tranny parts AND labor the parts that have given our trannies trouble are suppost to be impproved in te GM SERTA trannie

I went with the GM Serta

So call if you have an 06 - 07 Monte with a transmission Issue, or this transmission in your 3800 and file a complaint
I took your advice and voiced my concern. Noted that there are numerous long discussions online regarding final generation Monte Carlo transmission issues, and mine has a one-day-won't-be-so-minor slip in to first gear from every standstill; from every red light or stop sign. I have to carefully accelerate so as not to upset the car. Minor hiccup, but one I can live with. The car is too fun to let that get in the way!

I just put a Stage 2 TEP transmission in my Impala SS in June. After shipping, install, and my $700 core refund, it came to about $3350. So far I've put around 4000 miles on it and the car drives better than when I first got it (51k miles).

TEP trans will be better than any GM trans do to the fact TEP uses aftermarket/ stronger parts than what GM uses. plus TEP does valve body upgrades to help with shifting etc that GM does not do...... i am using a TEP trans in turbo monte making 500whp and its been in for a year now with no issues (knock on wood) but every other trans i tried from other people building or me building did not last (the past 4 trans) dave at TEP works magic on these trans thats for sure!!
