Yes the Impala should work, assuming it's within those years at the link.
I don't know the exact specifics, and hopefully someone else can jump in here, but I believe there's a year where GM started making slightly better 4T65E's and you want anything past that year. Again, I know that's arbitrary, so I apologize, but hopefully my statement will ring a bell for other's on the forum....or I'm just really crazy.

2003 is that year. They changed a switch from vacuum to electronic, so if you are a 2002 or lower, your PCM wouldn't hit that switch.
To the OP, try to stay with your year if possible. But any 4t65e from a 98-02 Grand Prix, Monte, Impala should work for you. Although make sure you check the RPO codes and see that the gear ratio matches
