Trans making some pretty horrible noises
Okay, haven't posted in a long time. Mostly because I really dislike my car any more.
Anywho.
Happened on the way home today, when the car is in gear and I accelerate, I get a wishing noise (sounds like saying "ssSSHHHHHhhh"). When the car is not in gear it doesn't make this noise. Had the car going at a constant 60 mph on the freeway, and I felt the RPMs jumping around a little. Then off the freeway is when the noise started.
I have a biiiig state exam on Friday, and I need some reliable mode of transportation to get there. What kind of problem do you all think I'm looking at?

Yeah sounds about right, getting closer to 100k you will probably need a rebuild of the tranny. I've heard this from numorous 7th gen monte owners over 100k. They all had to rebuild. Our trannys are junk

Yeah, I figured that's what it is. I got a quote from the dealer for a complete replacement for about $3000.
Ouch.
I'll see what they can do for me in terms of trade in value as is. If its not worth it (still owe money on it...) I'll be putting it on Craigslist with the new trans.
