Default Which torque converter?

Which torque converter are you guys using on your turbo kit? I had a Vigilante in my 2002 Trans Am WS6. It knocked
off a half a second in my 1/4 mile times. It was awesome on the street to. I plan on running a ZZP turbo kit in the
near future and a ST1 or ST2 cam as well. So i wanted to see what converter you guys are running. I think i might get
a Vigilante 2800.
Thx.

As with a few other of your turbo specific questions, I think the issue is that we just have few to no active members with a turbo. Turbomonte was the last very active member I recall, but he hasnt been on much since he parted out.

In general though, I wouldnt expect nearly the gains on this platform unless you've got enough tire to hold it (like a DR/slick). In general, it seems like these cars struggle to hold big power at WOT in 1st on street tires, especially brake boosting to the limit of the stock converter then rolling to WOT. Certainly a different story for a track car though.

We've got weight transfer working against us (where more power exacerbates the problem) and very limited extreme performance tire options given our very limited tire width, so generally higher stall converters (behind an engine with serious power as a cammed turbo 3800 would be) just lead to even more tire spin on the street.

Also, keep in mind that stall speed is related to a few things, one of which is how much power the car makes. So if you're unhappy with the current stall speed and havent installed the turbo yet- you may want to hold out a bit to see how it does with something like double the hp. I don't recall your setup, but if you've got a NA 3800 / regular 4t65, the stall speed of the stock NA converter actually is fairly high when you're making good turbo power through it.
