Did they give you a quote PRIOR to doing any work, did they have an idea of what was wrong...I assume not? And if you did get a quote, how close was that to what you actually paid...

I did get an initial quote, but I also told them if any of the tubes, vacuum lines, etc needed replaced to do it while they were at it.

No kidding. Part# 19179715 is the MAF sensor, which lists at over $350.

FWIW, the L67 originally came in Buicks starting in '96. They should be familiar with the engine in that case.

They had to wait on parts to come in. I guess they don't stock stuff for a supercharged engine anymore. They didn't put the full labor time on my invoice, but just talking with them and checking on the status I figured they had 6-8 hours of labor in the job.

OK the final bill was>>

$382.50 Labor
$568.51 Parts
$005.50 Disposal Fees
$040.19 Taxes

For a grand total of $996.70

I thought it was well worth the price and that is why I use this dealership. So I have had this Monte since 2007 and other then oil changes, tires etc I have spent roughly $1,650.00 through the dealership for repairs. The other two repairs were for a complete instrument cluster for $378.00, and a brake job.

With 122k miles I think it is fair to say that these Monte's are relatively inexpensive to own for the long haul or at least that has been my experience.

Not bad. Parts were more than labor, that would make me feel better. I hate when its a $50 part and $600 worth of labor.

I agree and was satisfied for what I paid. Of course it would have been nicer to spend the 1K on some up grades.

On a side note my wife had just dropped my daughter off at school earlier that morning. I saw her pull out at an intersection and was looking at the Monte on my way to work thinking what a nice looking car it was for being a seven / eight year old car. Later that day I received a text message from my daughter saying they thought the transmission was going out saying the car was bucking and shifting funny. First thought was transmission. I got home and drove it and it wasn't running shifting right at all, but I thought ECU all along. I went on this board and researched for several hours and came to the conclusion that it would be best to take it in. To many times I read all of the problems that these cars have with 100 different opinions. So the car goes to the dealership, the wife gets the Avalanche for a couple of weeks and I have to drive the back-up 1981 Silverado with pride!

I have tried to sell "Ole Blue" for several months with no luck. The only reason to sell was for cash to go towards my daughters ride which she will need to go to college in the fall. I can't convince her that the Silverado would be perfect, but she insists on the Monte for her ride. Well I decided to keep the truck for now and probably will succumb to buying my wife another car and letting the daughter drive the Monte.

So the Monte lives and everyone is happy in our camp!
