The cheapest and easiest route (in terms of finding parts) would be to swap in a 3800 engine (Series II L36 or L67, or Series III L26 or L32). An L67 swap would probably be the most cost effective and fairly easy if you can find a low mileage complete engine/trans combo.

I've thought about a complete engine swap but its probably a pretty penny, especially if I have to get new mounting brakets, probably a new exhaust, ecu. The whole thing. If it was simple enough to just find a 38000 nd just drop it in that'd b nice ha, I've found a few 3800 with low miles

the mounts would be the easy part as the engine cradles are the same. the custom work i had to do on my swap was: fuel lines, exhaust, harness/pcm. you may or may not need to change the trans. I would recommend headers while you have the engine out, but if you have a good donner car then you might even beable to grab the manifolds and down pipe from it. but headers are deff worth it.

I just want to fix my Monte up, engine wise, I want more torque. I love my car, never had problems, I just bought it before the value dropped, so I just want to do a few mods, just make it sound mean with a lil extra hp nd alotta torque.. Not sure whether to do the whole swap as bad I want to, turbo or supercharge (having trouble finding ones for 3.4l) or just get an exhaust, intake, nd chip nd call it good.

Just FYI there we no "chips" for these cars. In eBay they advertise chips but these are bs gimmicks and do not work. You will need a tuned PCM. Again refer to that forum for more info on recommendations for tuning that engine. Most of the expertise here is for the 3800 engine whre as that forum is about your engine. Intake manifold swap and exhaust would be what I would recommend for u in addition to the pcm
