I cannot give you an exact amount of hours as we worked on and off between my job,
family, and a million other things. I do know that it took 3 weeks from start to finish. As to hours
spent during that time, I'd guess it was in the 40-50 hour range. But remember, we had never worked
on this type engine before, so there was a lot of factory manual reading, asking questions online, searching
for answers. We also cleaned every part and the engine block, pulled the heads, replaced the oil pump
drive O-ring. When we started reassembly, we had to follow the manual for proper steps and torque
specs. If I had to do it over, it would probably take half the time. Remember also, that this is a hobby
to me, not a job, so I generally work at a comfortable steady pace.
