Stalling and Rough Shifts - Threw DTC P0102
I have a 1999 Monte Carlo Z34 with the 3800, Just rolled 85K.
Problem started the other night, driving up a hill the car felt like it was gonna stall then it shifted hard, got to the stop sign at top of hill and car stalled. No Service Engine Light.
Didnt drive it for a few days.....got in last night started driving it and it seemed fine. Then after the car warmed up I went to go up a hill and as i pressed the gas the car acted like it was gonna stall then launched hard after shift. Drove it home and it stalled as I came to a stop. Service Engine Light came on.
Drove it 2 miles to my buddy's with the SEL on to get the code read. Car ran fine there. Code reader showed P0102 MAF or VAF Circuit Low Input. Started the car drove about halfway home and as I was coasting the car stalled. After the stall the hesitation while on the throttle and launching after the shift began.
So I have GM repair books for the car but Im not an engineer to understand them. Obviously I have a problem with my MAF. I will attempt to clean it tomorrow and do some of the basic troubleshooting from the book.
Anyone else know what I should check? Thanks for reading and any help!

Well was told on 3800pro.com to try unpluging the MAF and driving the car.
Well I got aroud to unpluging the MAF and driving the car today for about 6 miles. The car drove much better with it unpluged. The shifts were smooth and i was able to accelerate or go up a hill without the hesitation or launching. The car did stall once at a stop sign, but it seemed like it didnt want to idle well with it unpluged.
Does this sound like my MAF is bad?
Should I try to clean the MAF or should I just get a replacement?
Thanks

Sry i did not see this earlier, control modules for car's have a default setting for fuel to air mixtures and the such, when you unplugged the MAF the car set itself to the default.
this works for most enviromental sensors, not sure about the o2 sensor.
