Default SLP Cold air intake

Has anyone run the SLP CAI? Looking at it, it seems like it simply replaces the existing air box with theirs and a cone filter, reusing the tube from the box the TB. Probably the least expensive CAI I have found yet, but like they say, you get what you pay for. Just wondering if anyone has it, and what they think og it.

It's decent as a tiny upgrade but the other options (wizaired) are much nicer.

As far as design, the one I like the look of the most is the one JMB Performance Fenderwell intake offered by Wbodystore.com. I like how it tucks inside the fender, looks really clean. Like I said, I saw the SLP and wanted to get some opinions from everyone here.

Yeah, the stock intake tube is a little bit of a restriction, and you still only get that small opening behind the headlight.

The JMB is nice, but I believe you have to make a small cut on your fender on the install.

Yeah, the description of it mentions it:

Installation Notes - Please note that cutting of the inner fender brace is necessary on W bodies which makes this one of the more difficult intakes to install. Please email us if you have problems with the install and cut/ modified intakes can not be warranted under any circumstances.
Not really intimidated by it, but definitely not as easy as just bolting things in.

I have the SLP, kind of disappointing in a sense. The PCM is in the front of the box so it only draws air from the side and the slits for it aren't all that big either. I have debated the next time I service my filter taking a dremel to the openings to make them a little bigger. I didn't really expect to see or feel a difference with just a CAI so 99% of the reason I wanted one was for the sound, without all the baffles and noise reduction the car does howl like an old fashioned 4 barrel. Like you said for the small $ I'm happy, have no real plans to go mod mad on the car. The CAI is probably going to be it, she is my DD and that's the reason I bought the car.

Really depends on your plans if you'll be happy with the SLP or want to spend more $ for a more complete kit.

I had one installed on my 05 and to me all it was was a glorified gutted air box with a cone filter on it. I settled on a Wizarid and couldn't be happier.
