Default Shifting hard

2005 LS, its been sitting for about a year while ive been deployed, went home on r&r and noticed it was shifting pretty hard through most of the gears, 1st to 2nd the hardest though. i checked my tranny fluid, it was black which says to me overheating. i didnt have time to change it while i was home, was thinking it could be the fluid and or the filter. anybody got any other ideas?

I had the same problems with myne, got a free diagnostic check on it and the code P1811 came up...I just made a new post here hoping for some advice or opinions so follow that one as well as your own if someone chimes in

the shop recommended a rebuild that would cost 1500-2300

Badg3r_LS: Has anyone been driving your car while you've been gone?

Tzarm: If your transmission is going out you can hit up this site http://www.tripleedgeperformance.com/Transmissions.html

The peace of mind that you would get would be worth it in my opinion.

I've been to that site but am not all that knowledgeable as to the whats and hows or what i'd be buying, plus im a poor college student so im hoping to keep costs at a minimum

edit: I actually just read that page over again, it seems like I ship them my transmission and then they ship it back rebuilt?
