Question rough idle after l67 swap.

I swapped out the motor in my 02 Monte Carlo SS for one out of a 99 gtp. After the swap the motor will jump from 600 rpm to over 1000. While it does this it black smokes as if its loading up. After awhile it will idle out right and stop smoking but it don't take long before it does it again. I switched the tb with the original but it doesn't help. I haven't switched the computer out or have this one tuned yet. Is this a common issue or is it just that I need a computer out of gtp to make it run smooth? Thanks

It is NECESSARY to tune the PCM to run that engine! The GTP PCM has the wrong gear ratio if you kept your old transmission. Get it tuned or you're gonna blow it up.

I kept the trans and pcm from the Monte Carlo. Do you know where I can send my pcm to get tuned? It don't seem like anyone around here does it.

ZZP, Intense, Milzy, Overkill all tune PCMs and I'm sure several other vendors. Do some research on who you want to go with.

I have a ZZP PCM at the moment.

Thanks for the info, I was thinking I'd have to tune the pcm but i wasn't for sure. I'm new to supercharger scene and just learning as I go.

I'm in the Texas panhandle by Amarillo. There's two guys that do tunes but they won't touch mine cause they haven't done it before. There's a guy in Lubbock but he says the same thing. Can a programmer do what I need.
