Default Replication of GNX performance

All,

I have a 1980 Monte carlo that I am going to put a new engine and tranny in. I wanted to duplicate the 1987 Buick GNX performance by using the Buick 231 turbo engine. However the guys at the Buick GNX forums ( http://www.gnttype.org/forums/showthread.php?t=5753 )seem to think that it would cost 13K to make this happen. What do you guys think?

I am not sure of the cost, but my first question would be why the GNT turbo V6?

Default RE: Replication of GNX performance

Well, the 1980 Monte carlo had a Buick turbo v6 as an option and they were great engines. I would like to stay somewhat true to the original, if a little updated. I had the V6 before and it would beat a 350 off the line (being a lighter engine and transmission combo) Also, the GNX was one of the fastest street cars of its time and I would like to have that kind of performance in my Monte. Plus I am not looking to drag anymore, but I am looking for something I can cruise in that is fairly economical. I only care about the 0-60 time. I don't care if the car can only do 100mph but I want it to get there with a quickness (and without my gas tank going from full to 1/2 empty everytime I get onto the accelorator).
