Default 86 SS

Hey everyone, good to be back. Anyway, today I picked up an 86 SS, and theres alot of stuff disconnected and whatnot. The guy said the motor doesnt run, but that never stopped anyone now has it? My question for all of you is, what crate engine would best suit this situation? I'm thinking a standard 350. The only issue is, I would need to be able to pass emissions testing in NJ, so eliminating the computer and emissions is out of the question. Anyone done it?

Default RE: 86 SS

Tons of people have done it with no issues - I have a Goodwrench 350 in my 85 SS with all the stock equipment connected and passed the couple emissions tests I had to with no problem (now exempt here in Ontario). It ran cleaner than the 305 it replaced.

www.montecarloss.com is a great resource for these cars if you are interested.
