To rebuild or replace
Hi everyone. New member first time posting. I have a 02 Monte Carlo ss with the 3800 series 2 motor. I've had it a year and a half. It had 93k on the tach. Now has just shy of 130k. It started ticking and runs fine at idle and when cold. But after it warms up at idle I lose all oil pressure (on the dummy gauge ). From research I've done I've narrowed it down to a spun cam bearing. Also from what I've gathered it basically means the motors shot.
So my question is. Do I rebuild. Or do I replace it. Either way I'd like to convert to the 04 05 supercharged 3800. And getting over 300 crank hp when im done. Times not an issue. Money to invest is around 4000 give or take a grand. The work will be done all myself.
Let me know what you think. Any suggestions or questions? Thank you for your input.
