Default Putting in a LS1

I was wondering if anyone could give me suggestions on installing a LS1out of an 01 Cammaro into my 86 monte carloSS.I was wondering would it bolt up to the stock trans, what motor mounts to use, carb suggestions and radiator and cooling fan suggestions. I someone could pretty much give me the run down on what parts would be needed to convert the motor to carbuerated amd what would be neede for a succesfull install.

Hello Nicholas and welcome to the Monte Carlo Forum.
I'm not up on the older Montes, but I'm pretty sure it's an almost bolt in mount, and Edelbrock makes a manifold and carb to fit these engines. My wife has a 5.3 LS1 in here '99 Z71 Silverado Sportside, and if your Camaro engine has as much ***** as this 5.3, it's a good swap. I've never been a fan of the older 350's, and the power from the LS engines is impressive.

the thin you will have to find is a computer for it to put in your car because it is a DIS engine i think a company called FAST makes a computer for it to reasd the reluctor ring signal or they make a kit to turn in in to a normal igniyion system but that requires a lot of modification to the engine if you get the computer the rest of the instal will be easy a 650cfm carb would more than feed the engine
and gmpp has an intake for this motor to make it carburated

i've looked into it before MSD and edelbrock make a kit that gets you most of the way there look up the
Edelbrock 7118
in jegs it sells for $710

looks like the kit includes a ls1 to carb intake, msd ignition that operates off the stock sensors and the harness to make it happen. and some throttle and tans. tv cable backets.

btw, on car-part i've seen a number of 5.3 engines for $550
