Question possible vacuum issue?

i have an odd issue, and i thought maybe one of you out there could help me diagnose the problem..

when i turn off engine engine i hear a release of air coming from the engine, it sounds like a vacuume line to me (im a IT geek...not a mechanic)

i know this description is a bit vague but it's really hard to explain the sound...

Hey, I'm an IT Geek/Non-mechanic (but learning) too from the Cincy area (Indiana-side.... living in the gulf coast now). This really isn't an answer response so much as a 'Hi!'. (love the avatar, btw)

I had a Maxima that I had the vacuum tube on the wrong connector (Injen intake) and when I turned the car off, it would whine like hot metal cooling or something. Put it on the correct tube and it stopped. Not sure if it's the same since you said yours sounds like air escaping, but...

Sorry for the very late reply. Yes your problem sounds like a vac leak and how you would test and see if it is and to help locate it is....when the car is running to spray "Starting Fluid" in one area of vac lines and then move to another. If you spray in an area where there is a vac leak the car's rpm will jump. That will let you figure out if and where the vac leak is.

As for fuel pressure...I really don't know...could be the gas cap or something more serious.
