Default Is it possible..?

I have bigger plans for the monte and im already having electrical problems.. So my question is... Can an alternator work if its mounted backwards.. (pully facing the motor) basically i want to run dual alternators in my 01 LS and with a little modification.. I could mount it where the front battery is.. And weld a bracket to hold it.. I saw someone did a tripple bracket but the 3rd one went through the hood.. i dont like that but need the power boost! I heard a BI directional fan might be needed.. I plan on having my stock one rebuilt anyway so im curious if that will be needed!

Thanks!

You would need to route the belt so it spins the pulley the correct way, I would imagine.

Why not just buy one big one? Some companies make giant alternators for cars with wicked sytems. Or find a interceptor version those are 120s i think.

Chibi i have thought about that as well.. I think i could find a way to make i work that way.. Would take more work but thats nothing new for this car..

Grizzly.. I have a 280amp xp from dc power in the stock location I need to run 2 280s... I have a hard time charging the batteries.. Plus my current amp draw is around 710 amps just in the stereo.. And the new build will be over 1000amps

do you have capacitors for your stereo system as well?? i know capacitors help keep the same current flowing once they are charged with the system when you first start the engine?

Capacitors don't do anything but drain the batteries.

You couldnt pay me to put a Capacitor in my car.. I can run full tilt in the mid 12s.. voltage wise.. But thats at arond 7100 watts.. Im swItching to 2 crescendo 3500s and 2 crescendo 1600.2s.. So a charging boost will be needed!
