You joke but there is a guy on w-body.com(miko k) who had a turbo sc 3.8 5-speed in a 1st gen cutlass. Said it was a tuning nitemare lol. He dropped the sc and is now going just turbo.

See, I've seen people that switched from a SuperCharger to a Turbo. I was joking about running BOTH at the same time! I think that might be just a LITTLE too much boost at once lol!

I think he was running a 2.3l whipple and unsure of turbo. Sed it made an f-load of heat but not enuf power for the headache. Just running turbo now.

If your engine has all the bells and whistles, but you can only run a 3.25" pulley- then you're definitely missing something. I'd expect a 3.0" or smaller with all the standard mods.

What cam are running? Which IC? Ported heads? Which TB?


If you don't have headers or a ported SC- go for headers. What are you running for manifolds/DP now? Headers are proven to make power- but if you already have a PLOG and 3" DP, the gains wouldn't be quite as big as going from all stock.

i have the xp hot cam
-bigger throttle botty (high velocity one)
-bigger injectors
-short stack intercooler
-front p log
-full exhasut from down pipe back
-t stat
-plugs
-tuned from zzp
-springs/retainers
-fuel pump re wire
-intake


so i was getting headers next. but i was MAYBE going to get a ported supercharger at same time if it was even worth it. but i see its not i guess

Wow... This is on a full L67, not a top swap? Something's not right. With that cam alone you should be able to run a 3.2, plus the SSIC should put you at 3.0 or below...

yea full l67. infact i got a dale earnheart jr car. zzp done all the tuening. i'm only guessing that they are giving me a conservative tune actually to make sure i don't mess it up. after headers/smaller pully/tune, i'll be working on my trans thats comming next.

fyi hp is 330ish 287hp at the wheels. and tq 320ish i believe

I'd be pissed doing a cam and IC and not even having 300 whp.

Ever had it at the track?
