Default Pontiac 400 in an '87 Monte?????

Just wondering about this. Does anyone know if this motor will fit in this car? I might be able to get my hands on one of these motors but before i do i'd like to know how feasible it would be to try to put it in my 87 monte. i have done engine swaps before and i'm fairly mechanically inclined, so just wondering if anyone on here would have any info for me on this motor transplant.

thanks =)

i'm sure it would work. i have seen 454s and 502s in those montes, which are lots bigger than that 400. you would probably have to find a conversion from pontiac to chevy for the motor mounts. might have to put a metric TH350 or TH400 trans behind it also or else find an adapter plate for the 200r4 if they make one. it would be a cool and unique swap if you got it done. good luck!

its been done before. i met a guy with one in a 79. the 200-4r is dual bolt pattern so itll work. not sure about what you would have to do with the motor mounts but the grand prix had 301s and i think maybe even 350 poncho motors in them and theyre the same frame.

yeah to keep it simple all you need is a th200R4 trans they have dual patterns for the bell housing and a set of motor mounts for a G-body with a 301 pontiac
