Default Oil Capacity for 2006 3500 V6

Is it 4 or 4.5 quarts? The owners manual says 4 quarts. I have seen on the web 4.5

The filter is being changed as well.

Put the 4 Quarts in it.
Run-it and let it warm up while you leak-check the filter and drain plug.
Shut 'er down and pull the dipstick after the oil settles.
Read the dipstick and top-it-up to the Max line.
You'll be close to 4.5 Quarts once things get settled-down and you get the read off the dipstick.
Don't be surprised if you wind-up using almost the whole 5 Quarts.

It depends on how much is really in the containers and how much you drained-out!

I put in 4 quarts and let it sit for 20 minutes after running, check the stick and its right at the full mark.
