5th Gen ('95-'99): o2 sensor

o2 sensor
Would anyone be able to tell me where the o2 sensor is location on the 97? 3100. I think I've asked this once before but I don't remember. The code p0141 has come up 3 times now and its time to get it fixed.

Keane, I believe your '97 has a 3100? The upstream should be right on the rear manifold (look down and behind the coils). You can get to that one from up top.
And as David mentioned, the other is just after the cat.
I don't recall if your code is referencing the upstream or downstream O2....

OK, I just punched it up. That is code "DTC P0141 HO2S Heater Performance Sensor 2" and Sensor 2 is after the cat. If the 5th gen is anything like the 6th gen in that respect, it's a big annoyance. In the 6th gen, that sensor stands up in the u-bend and you have next to no room to work.
Side bar - Unless I am missing something, the upstream sensor on the 5th gen 3100 should be on the rear manifold. On the n-bodies, I had to usually take the coil pack bracket (with packs and icm) out of the way. I did that same sensor on my wife's 3400 '05 Impala (basically a 4 door 6th gen Monte) last year and it was a piece of cake (no need to move the coils, lots of room, zero need to rock the engine forward). Not sure if the 5th gen is a bit tighter there...

Try removing it..give it a through cleaning and reinstahl it. See if that doesn't fix the issue.
