Default normal for an 03 monte?

Hello.
If you didnt know the day after I bought my car the engine blew. so now I am a bit paranoid. ( watching my gauges and such ) I have owned cars before but this is my first Chevy. I noticed when I am sitting at a red light my oil pressure goes a bit below half, but when I am moving it goes to about 3/4s. I dont know if this is normal or not for montes to do this. my other cars in the past have not done this..
thanks for your input!

Is your Monte an LS or an SS just out of curiousity? It sounds like someone dumped a poorly maintained car on you if it blew the engine the day after you bought it.

As long as you use the correct viscosity oil, your oil pressure should be fine.

Yes as soon as you hit the gas even slightly the oil pressure gauge goes up. Its normal.

Sucks about the engine blowing up the day after you got it. I would say it's normal for the pressure to drop when the engine is not under load. as long as it's not dropping to nothing there should be no problem.

I use Quaker State 10W30 Full Synthetic H/P in my '03 SS with a Wix oil filter. The car has 172,000 miles on it and holds steady pressure at idle and increases slightly under throttle. Perfectly normal condition your'e experiencing.
