No fans/random miss?
I have a 01' Monte with a 3800 motor. In the motor I have a cam, phenolic spacer, headwork (porting), and other bolt ons such as headers and catback. I the cam is a very mild cam grind and was suppose to not set off the check engine light when installed. Well since the cam went in I have had a random misfire code come up over and over again. The car has been dyno tuned so the fuel has been adjusted for the cam I was just wondering if anyone had anything that commonly goes out on these cars that might lead to this problem.
Also I have a bit of a cooling issue, the car has a 180 T stat in it and continually runs at 200+ and the fans never come on. I have an override switch for the fans that I have to put in yet but the fans should turn on by themselves which they havnt done in a while. (since the cam went in) The only thing Ive done in the past to keep heat down was to turn the AC on so that the one fan turns on. Any ideas on this? At first I thought it could be the coolant temp sending unit but then if it were that the coolant temp gauge wouldnt read out anything if the sending unit was bad. Unless im missing something???
Any help would be great thanks in advance.
