Newbie confused, Please help!
I really want an lt1 to throw in my 85' SS more then anything else, I know a place I can get a 94' caprice withpolice pack for the dirt low 300-400 forthe whole car, it has an lt1 in it but its only a 2 bolt. soI confused asto what to do because iv been reading about how the 2 bolt dont reallyholdup all that well in high output engines, I really wanted to make itdo 350 to 400 hp or make it a 383 stroker without blowing it up.So my question iswill it hold up to that much power, or should I just buy a cheapass4 bolt350 and build it up. Thanks forthe help

RE: Newbie confused, Please help!
well i personaly never used any 4 bolt blocks and never had one come apart on me yet right now i am running a 500 hp 400sbc 2bolt and running a 300 hp 305 sbc 2 bolt
so would say the the LT1 would hold up fine just put arp bolts in the mains and in the rods and you should be fine

Two bolt block will be fine... Just make sure to replace all fasteners with quality hardware from sources like ARP. Especially if rebuilding the engine don't cheap out and reuse head bolts, main cap bolts, andhave the con rods rebuilt with ARP bolts

Sorry, not a lot of small block experts that contribute much yet.
I am a strong advocate of the 4-bolt, but I've been away from that for many years.
I have blown up many a 2-bolts where a 4-bolt would have held up.
The members here with good advise on 2-bolts know better than I.

well, i guess anybody, if htey had a choice, would rather have the 4 bolt over the 2 bolt, but i woudl think it would hold up okay to about 350 hp... but the stroker kit, you might as well start counting down teh days. i haven't ehard a good thing reliability wise about a stroker engine yet. there fast... while they last....
