What are the main things you change when you tune a 3800 MC.

Do you get rid of th 0-40mph lag?

Of course I'd check for knock, probably bump up the timing a couple degrees, hit it with some power enrichment if needed, raise your shift points a hair. You shouldn't be lagging too much 0-40 MPH... Should take you about 8 seconds or so to get 0-60. Takes me like 5 seconds lol

Once you increase line speeds and trans shift points, that 40mph lag will be gone.

When you are going 40 and put the throttle down there is a horrible lag because of the torque converter locking and the car just not shifting down and going.

Ah. I thought it was from a dead stop.

Thanks for clearing that up Mike.

I hope that's what he meant, I hope his off the line speed isn't poor, because that's where the NA shines!!!

Off the line is good, however, if you are traveling 25-35mph or so and need to suddenly give full throttle you do not get full power until around 40mph. It is my understanding that GM set these cars up this way to keep the transaxle together because guys like me will test it. I could be wrong but you can certainly feel it.

If increasing line speeds and changing the shift points fixes the lag then its all good.

Fixing the 40mph lag will get me one step closer to where I want to be. I hate for Mustangs to beat me to the next stoplight.

nitehawkjcb I may have to look you up when I am in the Tidewater area. I get that way every few months.
