I don't see why it wouldn't- the core engine is virtually the same as all the other 60* engines.

i put up a post a while back named "if you have a 3400... here"
check that out and that tells you almost everything you can do to the 3400.

i just got a offer that i think im gonna have to take. A girl has a 2001 malibu that she claims has a 3.4 but i think all the 01s only have 3.1 in them....anyway it has a blown head gasket and thats the only thing wrong with it. Has 69,xxx miles. Sellin the whole car for 700. If all this is true then i think im gonna take it......unless someone here has a 3400 they wanna sell? lol

I dunno, if you really want more power, wouldn't it be worth waiting for a 3900 or 3500? I'd think it would be a pain to make up the 80 hp difference between the 3100 and 3900 (I know you can do the 3500 top end swap and such)

I mean yea the 3.1L will make a very quick Cavalier, no doubt about it. However if I was going through all that work to swap a V6 in, I would go for more power. I think your best bet would be the 3.5L or 3.9L. They both make over 200 HP stock, and would scream in your Cavalier.

well ya i mean if i can find a 3500 with tranny, ecu, and wiring harness then id take it in a heartbeat but the problem is that ive be ALL OVER craigslist and can find even one person who has a 3500 in a car or out of a car. So does anyone have any ideas on where to get one? I doubt a junkyard is gonna have a decent one especially if theres not on on craigslist.

ebay? various GM forums?

I know L67's and L36's even with the trans don't run that much on the various forums from people parting out totalled cars.

Usually junkyards are a pain- they like to strip off accessories to sell, and tend to be a bit high on prices.

the 3500 is the most readily available engine out there. they put those in impalas, montes, and g6's. and theres a **** ton of those on the road, that means theres a **** ton in the junkyards.

how much does a caviler weigh??? a thousand pounds less???
