My Monte is back on the road...
Yeah huh I know, sucked not having it with all the cooler air and no snow, the turbocharged engine really comes alive when she gets to pull in all the super cold air.
Also the passenger side CV axle boot was ripped so we pulled the axle to send it out for new boots. To our amazement the axles splines were twisting which would lead to the axle snapping in half. And the kind of funny part was this axle is the upgraded Pontiac GTP axle shaft. The splines were twisted right where the machining stops and the smooth axle shaft starts. Matt says he hardly ever see's this happen and it was good we caught this now or it would have eventually snapped in half while still inside the differential. The repair would have then been more difficult as we would have no way to remove the small broken splined section from inside the differential with out some tricky efforts. So we had to get another Supercharged axle, Matt says that most of the replacement axles for the GTP sold today are really just normal N/A car axles, so you have to pay attention to what your actually getting. We had to buy a rebuilt S/C unit from ZZP. Also he says the LSD makes the car really dig in and were significantly stressing the shaft out with all the power were putting to the wheels. I just have a hard time not getting on it when out running around and another car prods me. Oh well power breaks things...
