Default More hp out of l36 top swap?

Hello everyone! This is my first post so I'm new to the forum but I have gotten much help by reading everyone's posts. I need some help with my current project. I am in the process of doing a top swap on my 2001 Monte Carlo SS l36 and I want to get at least 300 hp at the the crank from my engine. I would prefer to have 300 hp at the wheels but I will settle with it at the crank. I've read that after I supercharge my engine it will have 260hp. I'm trying to do this and not spend too much money. So my question is what are the best most affordable mods to get my l36 top swap to 300 + hp? Also it's my daily driver and the motor along with the rest of the car has 137,000 miles on it. Babied for 125,000 of those miles.
Advice is much appreciated. Thanks!

Hello and Welcome to the forum!!

Buy a relatively cheap bolt on turbo kit. 5 to 6 hours installing it and your out having fun later that night!

Below is a link for a $3700 turbo kit, everything you need.

Well I've already bought the supercharger and most of the parts to go with it or the major parts at least ,supercharger, lim, heads, etc. As cool as it would be I'm not in need of a high hp turbo 3800 just wanted my car to have a good amount of go without going broke. I've seen all the upgrades like smaller pulleys, inter coolers, headers, rocker arms, injectors, etc... But I was just wanting some advice on the best supporting mods for an l36 top swap to get me to at least 300hp at the crank.
Thanks for the turbo suggestion but I'm in to deep with my top swap now and I'm kinda wanting to hear that supercharger whine.

I'm not an expert but I think it's gonna take more than just headers for an increase of 40hp in a supercharged l36.

Intake, 1.9 modified rockers, colder plugs, headers, intercooler, and I can't stress the importance of a really good tune, that should allow you to drop your pulley to a 3.6 and hit the mark.

Then start working on the suspension and saving up for the inevitable trans build.

I would like to put 1.9 rockers on my my car with a little smaller pulley but didn't know about having to much boost/compression for stock internals. And the intercoolers I saw were about 1000 bucks and up and I didn't really want to spend that on a single mod to complement the supercharger if it either wasn't necessary or I could use another mod to reach my goals.

These blocks are really strong, no need to worry there.

Your internals should be fine, the enemy with this car is heat, the heat generated by the supercharger can lead to detonation. Its kind of a balance between heat and boost, you can only boost so much before you have to intercooler it. From everything iv heard and read these engines will take about 6-8 lbs of boost without cooling it. After that your shoving to much hot air into the cylinder and risk detonation. I believe you can also slighty increase the fueling ratio near full throttle to reduce risk of detonation. With the top mounted supercharger its a battle with heat.

I second a bolt on intercooled turbo kit. Can get them used for 2000-3000 and make 300whp all day long on bone stock engine.

If going sc it will take some work to get there. What chibi said is about what you would need to get there and when all said and done it will cost just as much if not more as the bolt on turbo setup.

Example: my buddy has a 03 ssei (same engine) he is making 310ish whp and has a factory l67 bottom end, 1.9 rockers, n*tb, gen v sc, huge phenolic ic, on a 2.9" pulley, headers, wires, plugs, ewp, and other goodies. This dyno number also was on race fuel as pump fuel couldn't get it there.

Sc builds can make nice power but it's easier to make power with a turbo.

Also trans will be an issue. Plan on dumping a ton of money into a upgraded trans i suggest Dave at triple edge for a trans. And even with his trans there not bullet proof, when making more power even the upgraded trans are weak. The 4t65 trans just sucks lol. (I'm on trans 4 lol but I'm also making estimating 550ish whp. Strapping on dyno april 12th!)
