because the new gen motor was efi, diffrent design, and still is a 305. It is a 2001. 270k miles never had a problem accept when a tree fell on it while i was driving.

GMC Yukons never were offered with a 305. In 2001 they were only offered with either a 4.8L (290ci) v8 or a 5.3L (325ci) v8.

My opinion, just swap out to a 350. It's easier to make hp with that.

Seriously, this is the best advice. The 305 is the 'black sheep' of the SBC family and for good reason. The amount of money you'd have to soak into it to produce any real power gain just isn't worth the trouble. A 350 or 400 will produce a LOT more power in comparison. If you really want some power and torque gains drop a 383 stroker between the fender wells, but be prepared to upgrade your drivetrain and suspension or you'll be constantly breaking trannies and/or rear ends.

I'm not trying to be a smart ****, but the term 'quick 305' is an oximoron. I've beat the pants off of so many 'BUILT' 305 with a STOCK 350 it's made the owners go home with their tail between their legs and tears in their eyes.
