450 wheel horsepower is not going to happen with a 3800 SC supercharger, even a gen 5

low 400s wheel horsepower is the aboslute max on an M90, and thats on a fully built setup (ie ported heads, big cam, headers, full size IC)

If you want 450 wheel horsepower, the easiest route is a turbo setup. Check out ZZP's Z7 kit or the Stattama kit.

Keep in mind that you'll need to set aside $4k or so for a built tranny either way you go.

Honestly, I'd think twice before you jump in with either route and make sure that is what you really want to do (also that you aren't planning on using it as your only daily driver, you will need a backup car). Either way you're talking a roughly $10,000 setup between the built trans and all the mods- and you're going to end up with a car that will not hook up on regular street tires.

Not trying to talk you out of doing it, but it would probably be cheaper to trade your car in on a used goat, camaro, or mustang and build that- definitely would be more reliable and more streetable too.

Well if you do have a side car then I say go for it. With the highest power turbo kits you can get well into the 500hp range. Reliability will not be there though lol.

I know a guy who daily drives a 516 WHP Regal LS. If you buy the right parts in the right combination, a high horsepower car can be reliable.

To the OP- I think that shooting for the stars with a FWD 3800 is kind of counter-productive, like bumpin mentioned. I think a better idea is a mild combination of bolt-ons that will really wake the car up. I'm assuming your car is stock? A 3.5/3.4 pulley, 3" downpipe, cold air intake, thermostat, and canned tune would make a big difference and likely knock a full second off of it's 1/4 mile performance, while still getting killer gas mileage and behaving very mildly on the street. A well running 3.4 setup L67 runs mid-high 13s in the 1/4 mile while knocking down mid-20s MPG fuel consumption wise. So...that's my suggestion. Add a Zex nitrous kit for track use if you really want to kick some ***.

For a daily driven 3800, I really think that's the ticket. You start getting too much deeper- you start adding more problems (add a cam, then worry about the timing chain; add an intercooler and worry about the electric pump, and leaks; etc)- plus if you go too much further, then you start having to worry about the trans.

I think that mod level is a great compromise because it can be had dirt cheap, and as you said- can easily put you in the high 13s; while still being 99.9% as reliable as stock; still easy to launch on regular old tires, and still getting great gas mileage.
