i cant seem to find any intakes (cold air, ram air, etc.) for my 04 LS, everything is for the SS, or in other words, 3.8 liter instead of the 3.4 liter. am i not looking hard enough or wats the deal, does it matter that its for a 3.8 instead of a 3.4, can i still use it? if you guys know please help me out , im tryin to soup up my engine but cant find anything. thanks

 

Try 3800performance.com they let you choose between 2000+ LS/SS when looking at parts.

 

There is not much out there specifcally designed for the 3.4L in the way of CAI's. The ebay units I hear are ok for the $$$..

 

^^ they are cheap though, I wouldnt buy an Intake for a Monte from Ebay, Im sorry but its way to cheap to be a good product.

 

yea, ebay does have pretty cool stuff, but i dont know if i can trust a $12 intake for my car, its just too cheap! besides that a performance chip, but ill never install one of those, digital horsepower, not a big fan, but thank you montejass and ca$$e for your input, its greatly appreciated.

 

I am curious, what are the differences between the 3.8 and 3.4 as far as throttle body location. Can someone post a pic of the 3.4L engine bay?


I would not suggest purchasing a chip. But, either Hypertech or DHP have a programmer that will allow you to modify the PCM at will. Hypertech does not have a unit out for the 3.4L but say they may have it on the horrizon pending demand. They have a dyno chart showing a 15-19 HP gain for the 3.8L , DHP will be able to get you over the 20HP addition hump. There is another programmer out there as well but off the top of my head I suffer from CRS. Run a search for programmers, it's somewhere in the forum..

 

Make your own cai its not that hard
