Yea I saw that one at one point. But on youtube I found a video of one with the engine we have. I am thinking that a camero trans will fit the engine and for rear end a for 9inch. I know it will take a lot of work but it will be worth it. Also the Australian car that has a similar engine is already RWD so mabe that rear will fit.

@Yellowjacket: Did you find anything else out on that dyno sheet? From what we all read, you put thousands of dollars in that car & got 54hp out of it. Something is very, very wrong here.

From just exhaust mods, CAI, Inc.'s cai, a personalized, custom tune, & a few other things here & there, I am going to see a 20+ gain on an uncrack't L36.

Hmmm, ...

I wouldn't say that there's something wrong with his Monte. The reason why he's spent so much money on it for 54-64whp (L67's make about 190-200whp) is because he's having a shop do the work (in this case ZZP), and he's also only running a 3.3" pulley. If he gets an intercooler and a couple of other odds and ends with a smaller pulley he'll be pushing the 300whp mark pretty soon.

When it comes to modding an NA L36, it's not very hard to get 20-30whp. All that would take is a set of rockers and a few other bolt ons with a tune. However, once you've done that, it takes a LOT of work to get any more hp then that. There are only a handful of fwd NA L36's that have made more the 200whp (my Monte was one of them). To make what I ended up making NA (222whp), I could have installed a turbo kit and made almost 400whp with that money. Now, I have a unique Monte instead.

It's okay to mod an NA L36, but don't do a lot to it. If you want to make any hp out of a 3800, you have to be boosted or use nitrous (or both ).

that would be a 2nd gear pull if it is maxing out at 80mph. i dyno in 3rd gear so i am as close to 1-1..... a 2nd gear pull should net u more hp than a 3rd gear pull thou... correct me if im wrong guys.....

@04chevy: Yes, ... IF I can get the junk man to part with the parts for under $20/coil. As @Maniac said, I am not doing this mod for over 30 bills.

I will head over to the scrap yard Friday ... & pick them up ... from where I hid them, & see if I cannot get them for a steal. If not, I will leave them sitting on the counter ...

Just had to chime in and say I really like the direction your taking your Monte's build. Have you had any head work done, dont see any mention of it other than springs. Larger injectors? Cant wait to see more, Nice color scheme too!!

No I have not done any other head work. thats one of the next things I want to do its just very exspensive. I plan to do ZZP stage 3 or 4 heads. Havent decided yet. And thank you. I just got the tony stewart front grill from dealer delivered today and the car will be delivered friday. So once I get it I will post some vids of the engine and of how the exhaust sounds.
