well my car is just killing it self these past few months. i noticed oil spots all over my driveway and realized its coming from my car.. it never stops leaking it just leaks all day long.. doesn't have to be running or anything. but i believe it leaks faster when its running. i felt around and looked around and there was alot of oil on the oil pan.. but i cant tell where its coming from? any suggestions? also it shifts rough at higher RPMs. if i accelerate fast it will act like its about to shift then still go up about 500RPMs or so then shift really hard.. its pissing me off! . im considering just fixing the oil leak and trading it in before i loose money on this thing

 

Is your car a 3800 or 3400 equiped car?

If it's a 3400, my guess right off the top of my head is the LIM gaskets going bad. Best way to check, on the driver's side of the car, us a flash light and look down past the EGR to where the valley gasket for the LIM sits. You will probably see a lot of oil sitting there.
Another thing to do, if the LIM gasket breaks down, a lot of times it is coupled with coolant leakage. Put a radiator pressure tester on the car, pump it up and listen for hissing. Odds are if the LIM is bad, you'll find a spot where coolant is seaping out under pressure.

If you can confirm it to be the LIM gasket, get the new Fel Pro aluminum replacements. From what I hear, using those, you'll never have to worry about the LIM gaskets again.

 

thanks maniac! i have done alot of research on this and it seems very common with my 3400 motor. unfortuently i cant do this myself. so it will probably cost alot to do. but it needs to be done! hopefully this is the last of the problems for this car! for a little while
